Each of our members typically pays for all of their personal hiking gear, backpacks, tents, clothing, food, gas, and any supplies needed to outfit themselves in a manner consistent with our policies. The typical volunteer has spent upwards of $3,000 of their own money in order to meet SAR requirements. All of our volunteers are certified by the State of California as Disaster Service Workers and have been background checked, fingerprinted and sworn in through the Fresno County Sheriff's Office. This process alone can take a year to accomplish while the recruit is in training. Each person takes many hours from their normal jobs and personal lives to further the mission of Search and Rescue efforts. We train constantly and do our best to stay in the shape needed to effect a successful rescue. Each member works tirelessly in an effort to reunite lost people with their families. They are on call 24/7/365 to respond to the needs of the community.

In spite of considerable expenses incurred by our members and team, we try regularly acquire state-of-the-art technology and equipment which enhances our ability to search for the lost. Ropes, litters, ascent and descent gear, communications equipment and our vehicles all get replaced regularly because we can't take a chance of something worn breaking at a critical moment during a mission. We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization.
